Edge, the internal information "social" network at Billington Cartmell, was conceived by the Tech Team as an alternative to sharing links, images, tweets and other agency information via internal email. Being heavily involved in the planning of this system, as well as designing and building the front-end, I helped move it away from being a dry corporate tool into something engaging, usable and that you actually wanted to use.
For the initial look and feel I designed a responsive, tile-based interface with a teaser of information displayed upfront, giving the user a graphical overview of content rather than being bogged down by a mundane list of links. Upon clicking the small, green arrow, a tile flipped over (using CSS3 transforms), to reveal more info.
Over time the interface would evolve to include more information, like case studies, reports, as well as widgets. Branding was also produced.
